Cave Run Lake, located in the Daniel Boone National Forest, 60 miles east of Lexington, Ky., is a recreational and outdoors hotspot. The 8,270-acre lake is a regional hub for boating, fishing, hunting, camping, and all sorts of outdoor activities. The lake is also nationally known for fishing. Cave Run Lake is a fisherman’s dream with an abundance of Bass, Catfish, Crappie, and Muskie. The lake is so well known for Muskie fishing that it has earned the nickname, “The Muskie Capital of the South.” Cave Run Lake is nestled within the Daniel Boone National Forest and is renowned for its rugged beauty. The area offers spectacular scenery and exciting outdoor activities such as hiking, rock climbing, and mountain biking. Cave Run Lake is also located within an hours drive of many of Kentucky’s state parks; Red River Gorge, Natural Bridge, Carter Caves, and Blue Licks Battlefield are all within easy driving distance to Cave Run Lake. Lexington, Mt. Sterling, Maysville, and Ashland, are all within an hours drive from the lake and offer activities that are fun for the whole family. The Kentucky Dream Park is also located within driving distance of many baseball attractions and other entertainment. Major cities like Cincinnati, Louisville, Lexington and Charleston are within a two-hour drive or less.
